2019 Employee Benefits Compliance: How to Take Aim on a Moving Target

Session Description

Cory Jorbin’s presentation will bring plan sponsors and employers up to date on employee benefits compliance. The session reviews what’s changed for 2019, what’s expected, and what may occur throughout the year and into 2020. Participants will learn what’s changed concerning the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and what they need to do to comply, as well as the latest developments regarding the enforcement of the HIPAA privacy and security rules and the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act.

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will learn how to prepare for an OCR or DOL audit focused on HIPAA and/or MHPAEA
  2. Learn how to avoid ACA-related penalties by ensuring your company knows and understands the latest ACA developments, such as extended deadlines, repeals, and other changes
  3. Learn what to do to be compliant with state laws that pertain to employee benefits


Cory Jorbin

Cory is the Chief Compliance Officer for the West Region Employee Benefits team. Cory consults with employers of all sizes to design, implement and ensure the compliance of employee benefit plans with the Affordable Care Act, ERISA, Internal Revenue Code, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA and related matters. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from DePaul University and a Juris Doctorate from Cleveland State University. Cory is a licensed attorney in the State of Illinois and is admitted to practice before the US Tax Court.
